Beware of losing money.

 I thought I should mention something about the workings of some of the companies online offering cheap epc’s, particularly as the number of people asking us to produce epc’s  who have lost their money is on the increase.

The majority of online epc providers are not energy assessors they are simply businesses who sell the service. They have recruited a panel of energy assessors who are prepared to carry out the survey and provide the certificate for a reduced fee in exchange for work referals. The companies take an up front payment from customers and then pay the assessors their agreed fee once the work is complete.

There is nothing wrong with this system and I'm sure there are some good companies providing epc's in this way.

The problem and the reason some customers have lost money is that a minority of these companies are not paying their energy assessors even though they have carried out the work, so having taken your money and promised you a quick response they cannot find assessors who will work for them, understandably.

Just to re-assure you - we do not work for energy assessor panels and neither do we use energy assessor panels to do our work. We produce all of our epc's and are fully accredited and accountable.

To be safe when choosing an Energy Assessor go to https://www.epcregister.com and in the Find an Assessor page enter the name or registration number of the assessor and check that they are accredited.
